Featured Networks

War of the Worlds - Horsell Common is an extension of www.thewaroftheworlds.com, the hugely popular official fan social site for Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds. The creator of the network wanted to provide a social platform for his users to interact on, however he didn’t want to have to invite everyone to sign-up all over again, so used the SocialGO API tool to import his existing member database.  He also wanted a single sign-up up so he used the SocialGO API tool to cross validate member, ie when a member signed up to his fan site, they also signed up to the social network.

The Horsell Common SocialGO network was easily adapted to take on the look and feel of the existing War of the Worlds fansite, which the creator was very pleased with.  The SocialGO network added a new dimension to the existing fansites vast amount of relatively static data, by providing members extensive tools for its members to interact with one another.

Using the SocialGO software, the network owner was able to publish notices about new products using the Magazine, and to target individual groups on the network, or indeed the whole network with messaging and bulletins. The members were also provided with a forum to discuss any number of topics, and a powerful events tool, which allowed events to be created, for instance the shows, which users could then not only RSVP to, but also see information about the event, such as photos and other attendees of the event.

Overall, War of the Worlds - Horsell Common has proved to be a really successful enhancement to an existing website, and is a great example of how creating a network can not only be beneficial for interaction on a social level, but is also a functional tool to enhance the service offered by an existing website.
