New Features

After 4 months of exhaustive BETA testing SocialGO announces its pricing plans which will come into effect from 15 February 2009.

A huge THANK YOU goes out to all the network owners and users who have created and used networks during the BETA period. Our BETA networks have allowed us to refine and improve the service at a great rate and we hope you and your networks continue to grow and prosper on SocialGO as the service evolves in the coming months.

From 15 February 2009 all existing and new networks will have the choice of three great pricing packages.

  • SocialGO FREE a great way to trial SocialGO or create a network if you’re happy with SocialGO ads & some feature limitations – Free as the wind
  • SocialGO Starter perfect for small groups that don’t want SocialGO advertising appearing on the network and are happy with a few less features – US$4.99 monthly.
  • SocialGO Premium when you want to get serious with more storage & bandwidth, plus loads of extra features, developer tools, your own URL & more - US$24.99 monthly.

Supporting these pricing packages are three options that are available to SocialGO Premium users:

  • Member Billing allows you to charge your members a monthly fee to access your network using your PayPal account.  Super powerful and easy to setup. You can make payments optional or required, regular or one-off - US$19.99 monthly
  • White Labeling to remove all references to SocialGO. This includes removing our logo, name watermark and even URL in images and files - US$19.99 monthly
  • Storage and Bandwidth Blocks if your network is big and highly active - US$9.99 monthly per block

From 15 February 2009 all new networks will have to select a base package, either FREE, Starter or Premium, plus desired options upon network creation.

All networks created before 15 February 2009 have until the end of February 2009 to select the base package and options they wish to have going forward.

Coming soon is the SocialGO Widget Store and layout manager, a third party application platform that will sell additional features to compliment and enhance your SocialGO network.  The first 3rd party developer, Widget Laboratory, will be launching a range of widgets to kick things off when the store opens.

From 15 February 2009 SocialGO will no longer accept networks with mature content of a sexual nature.  Networks with mature content will be invited to join Zocku.com, the newly launched social networking platform dedicated to mature networks.  Click here for more information in the Zocku Owners’ Network.

Can you clarify some of the above please. What do you mean by “SocialGO will no longer accept networks with mature content of a sexual nature”?
Does that mean you wont take any new ones on, or does it mean that all existing users must move to Zocku? Its ambivalent as written, thanks.

Also how can we as owners tell how much space we are using? If i’m to start to charge members, i in turn need to know how much you propose to charge us - at the moment i have no way of telling how much space my site uses.
    thanks

    Hi Nick,

All existing adult networks can be moved over to Zocku with no more than a few minutes of downtime and a seamless change for their users. New adult networks will need to register on Zocku as SocialGO will not be accepting them anymore.

    Does that help?

  3. Alex Halliday Says:

Sorry, to clarify this Adult networks can continue to register on SocialGO until the 15th and from then on they will need to register on Zocku.

  4. Nick Says:

    Alex,

Thanks for the reply, but it still doesnt actually answer all of the question. What about those adult sites that are already on Socialgo. You say that they “can” move, my question was will they “have” to move.

    Hi Nick,

Stivi here. Yes adult networks with content of a sexually explicit nature must move from SocialGO to Zocku by 15 Febrary 2009. Otherwise they will be suspended as SocialGO will no longer host adult networks after that date. That might sound a bit harsh, but it is not really. Zocku is exactly the same functionality and interface, the only difference is it is exclusively for adult networks. If a network wants to move over it is as easy as flicking a swicth with no disriction r effort from the network owner.

    Hope that makes sense.

My site is an adult site. I cannot afford the $49.99 to move over to Zocku. I am a student simply helping out with the lifestyle I believe in. I don’t want to become something I am not with a paysite with all kinds of porn sponsors or whatever. If I asked my members to pay a dollar or two a month, probably all but a few would drop out. A pay site isn’t workable for me. Anyone have any ideas on where I can take my group? You can respond directly to me at GetHerBlacked@Yahoo.com if you prefer. Thanks!

  7. Ella Says:

If SocialGo had made the pricing reasonable, like $4.99 a month or something, maybe I could have gotten some help from some members, but $49.99 a month is far too much for me to carry.

  8. steveh Says:

    Hi Ella,

The best way is to ask your members to “make a donation to keep the site free”. You will be amazed how many people will pay. That way you can try cover your costs.

At the moment we do not have any other pricing packages and all adult networks with sexually explicit content will not be allowed on SocialGO from 15 February 09. Sorry.

    Stivi
