The stuff that you can do with SocialGO and a little bit of CSS are truly amazing! With thanks to the Evil Genius over at the Widget Laboratory for spotting this little gem, the Little Prayer Box is a wonderful example of the customization options you have with SocialGO.

Below is a screenshot of the Little Prayer Box created by the talented Ezra Vancil.

The Prayer Box

Ezra has been kind enough to provide the Widget Laboratory with the details of his site history and creation.

The Idea behind the Prayer Box is a community hinged on prayer, so Ezra made it easy for people to post a prayer, keep up with friends’ prayers and your own. This community believes strongly in the power of prayer and the transforming relationship it can have, not only between people and God, but between people themselves. If you think of a triangle with one point being God and the two opposite ends as people engaged in prayer towards the center, they are drawn closer and closer together.

Ezra thinks it’s a good thing to write down your prayers and to share them with others, that way, when that prayer is answered you remember it and can encourage others by telling them about it.

The Prayer Box

Ezra’s Prayer Box started as a simple anonymous prayer blog eventually developing into what it is now. Of course, this site goes way beyond a simple blog, with the availability of ton’s of tools,  and many ways to build strong friendships, through prayer groups, discussions, video chats with family, sharing video, music and pictures.

Ezra began by first playing around with KickApps, then Ning and others, finally coming across SocialGO, which despite still being in Beta stage, offered him the right tools needed to create this beautiful site. Ezra explains he designed the entire look, layout and graphics in Photoshop/Illustrator, and then tackled the task of making it all work with the code, trying not to let the mark-up define what he could do.

Ezra says his website is sitill a work in progress, as he is always finding something new to adjust, every time he logs in.
